Your First Visit

What do I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing for movement and exercise. If possible, wear clothing that allows observation of the body part (for example, wear shorts or loose pants so I can see your knee).

What can I expect?

On your first visit, Dr. Burkhardt will ask you questions about your symptoms, history, and goals, and use that information to complete an evaluation of your movement. She will then work with you to develop a treatment plan to address both the symptoms and the root cause of the symptoms. The treatment on the first day may include manual therapy, exercise, or movement retraining (or all of these!).

Services

What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is a treatment in which a fine needle is inserted into a muscle. It is used as a “reset” for trigger points, tight, and painful muscles by improving blood flow to the tissues and eliciting a “twitch” response which can improve muscle tension.

What is your specialty area?

I am a board-certified orthopedic clinical specialist. I also have advanced training and experience in vestibular rehabilitation, concussion management, pelvic health, spine treatment, and dry needling. For more on these different types of physical therapy, see the blog page.
